Women’s Approaches to Inter-faith Peacebuilding- Boston College

At the invitation of Boston College, pofessor Zilka Spahić Šiljak delivered a lecture on “Women’s Approaches to Inter-faith Peacebuilding” on September 24, 2025. The lecture atracted a large number of students interested in feminist and interreligious perspectives on peacebuilding. The hosts of the lecture were Professors Cynthia Simmons and Katy Bailey, who expressed strong support for continuing this collaboration.

Through interactive discussions with students, we explored questions about the role of women in peace processes, the challenges of interreligious dialogue, and the specific experiences of the Balkans. The students showed great interest in the dynamics of post-conflict society in Bosnia and Herzegovina, practices of peace activism, and feminist approaches to transitional justice.

During the visit, it was agreed that Boston College students will come to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming period, where, in partnership with the TPO Foundation, they will participate in a series of lectures, workshops, and field activities dedicated to peacebuilding in BiH and the wider region. This collaboration represents an important step in strengthening international academic dialogue and the exchange of knowledge on peacebuilding practices, feminist approaches, and the regional experiences of the Balkans.
