THE FIFTH ONE-DAY TRAINING FOR TEACHERS HELD IN THE HERZEGOVINA-NERETVA CANTON:: "Communication and Individual Cooperation of Teachers and Parents"

In the Student Hotel Mostar, on October 31, 2017, the fifth, and the last training within the program "Children are our mirror: Prevention of peer-based and gender-based violence in B&H schools" called Communication and individual cooperation between teachers and parents was held. The trainers were: Andrea Jevric, Edna Haznadarevic and Mirza Trbonja. At the training, there were 12 registered teachers from three primary schools: "Zalik", "Ivana Gundulica Mostar" and the "Third Primary School Mostar". All invited teachers responded to training. Representative and adviser of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Herzegovina-Neretva County Emina Jusufbegović joined the training. The aim of the training is to strengthen competencies in the area of ​​successful communication and individual cooperation between teachers and parents as a key way to prevent and reduce peer-based and gender-based violence at school.

UNHEALED TRAUMA

Proceeding "Unhealed trauma" is a result of the conference "Trauma, memory and healing in the Balkans and beyond'' held in Sarajevo, July 2016 and organized by TPO Foundation. Editors are Julianne Funk and Nancy Good, and renowned American psychiatrist Steve Olwean wrote the foreword.
The core of the book is reliance that there is no sustainable peace without trauma healing after surviving violence. Authors are recognized local and international scientists and practitioners in various disciplines. That can be seen from subjects they wrote about. The nature and role of the trauma and chances for peacebuilding – in various contexts, including former Yugoslavia – as well as the different barriers to this process are considered in the book. Special attention is given to Bosnia and Herzegovina since the dissolution of Yugoslavia in the 90's had the hardest impact on this country. Videos with the presentations can be found here.

THE INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE THROUGH ART PROJECT
STUDENTS second MEETING


The second meeting of students from the Interreligious Dialogue through Art Project, supported by the Federal Ministry of Science and Education and TPO Foundation, was held in the Dobrinja Gymnasium on October 28, 2017.
The meeting was held as part of "Arabesques", the second project module, led by the art teacher Anita Smiljanić. The project involves high school students of different religious and national groups and it is being implemented by the educational experts at the Dobrinja Gymnasium. The month of October was dedicated to the spirit of Islamic art and culture and it successfully ended with this activity.

THE SECOND ONE-DAY TRAINING FOR TEACHERS IN CENTRAL BOSNIA CANTON: "Communication and Individual Cooperation of Teachers and Parents"

Within the framework of the three-year educational, program CHILDREN ARE OUR MIRROR: Prevention of peer-based and gender-based violence in B & H schools, TPO Foundation successfully organizes one-day trainings in cooperation with the three ministries of education of FBiH. In Vitez on October 26, 2017, the second one-day training for 12 teachers from primary schools "Nova Bila" and "Travnik" was held with an aim to strengthen competences in the field of successful communication and individual cooperation of teachers and parents of the Central Bosnia Canton. The training was led by Šejla Džanan, a pedagogue from the Third Primary School Jaklić in Bugojno, a social science teacher in the field of school management, and Snježana Petraš, a school pedagogue and psychologist at the Nova Bila Primary School in Nova Bila

Training was held in Sarajevo primary school "Edhem Mulabdic" and lead by Esmir Salihović, school pedagogue and Berminka Hrelja, specialist in traumatic psychology and system family psychotherapist. During their work, teachers form primary schools "Aleksa Santic" and "Nafija Sarajlic" from Sarajevo had the opportunity to jointly discuss past practices and experiences in working and communicating with parents.

In three-years project CHILDREN ARE YOUR MIRROR: Prevention of peer and gender-based violence in B&H schools" first one-day training for teachers in building their capacity in successful communication and individual cooperation of teachers and parents, in Travnik, October 24, 2017. The project is successfully implemented by the TPO Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of education, culture and sport of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Ministry of education, science and youth of Sarajevo Canton and Ministry of education, science, culture and sport of Central Bosna Canton and thirty partner primary schools. Training was lead by Sejla Dzanan, school pedagogue and Doctor of Social Sciences in the field of School Management and Snjezana Petras, a school pedagogue and a psychologist.

After the first training for teachers entitled "Communication and Individual Cooperation of Teachers and Parents" in Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, second one-day training for teachers of elementary schools was organized in Mostar. The training was held on 17 of October 2017 whose moderators were Edna Haznadarevic, a co-worker at the Mostar School of Education, Andrea Jevric, a pedagogue from "Ilija Jakovljevic" Primary School, and Mirza Trbonja, pedagogue from the "Fourth Elementary School". The participants of the training were teachers from elementary schools "Ilija Jakovljević" (Mostar), "Blagaj" (Blagaj) and "Ilici" (Ilici). The goal of one-day training is to strengthen teachers in working with parents and to build quality and successful co-operation between schools and parents in order to prevent peer and gender-based violence in B&H schools.

THE INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE THROUGH ART PROJECT
STUDENTS FIRST MEETING

Semir Salihović, a teacher of Islamic religious studies at the Dobrinja Gymnasium and long-term ETOS Initiative cooperator, has started a project entitled Interreligious Dialogue through Art. The project was initially supported by the Federal Ministry of Science and Education and TPO Foundation which – for the past two years – has been supporting and empowering the work of BH elementary schools and high schools which are part of the World Ethos schools. After completing the first module on "Interreligious dialogue from the Islamic perspective" on October 14, 2017, the participants visited the biggest Sarajevo mosque, the Istiqlal Mosque, where the long-term imam and Sarajevo Mufti's assistant Abdulgafar Velić, PhD, spoke to them in detail about the history and architecture of this mosque. The target group is going to do six additional modules and visit different religious objects.

After the first training for teachers entitled "Communication and Individual Cooperation of Teachers and Parents" in Sarajevo, one-day training for teachers of elementary schools was organized in Mostar within the three-year program called CHILDREN ARE OUR MIRROR IMAGE: Prevention of peer and gender-based violence in BiH schools. The training was held on 12th of October 2017 in Mostar, whose moderators were Edna Haznadarević, a co-worker at the Mostar School of Education, Andrea Jevrić, a pedagogue from Ilija Jakovljević Primary School, and Mirza Trbonja, pedagogue from the Fourth Elementary School. The participants of the training were teachers from elementary schools Ilija Jakovljević and Fourth elementary school from Mostar and teachers from elementary school Ilići from Ilići. The goal of one-day training is to strengthen teachers in working with parents and to build quality and successful co-operation between schools and parents. The three-year project "Children is our mirror image" through a series of activities aims at empowering pedagogues and teachers in working with students. It attaches special importance to activities related to strengthening the competences of teachers and pedagogues working with parents, with the aim of building trust and establishing successful and efficient co-operation between parents and teachers.

"Teacher-parent communication and individual cooperation"

The first one-day training for teachers on strengthening competences in achieving successful teacher-parent communication and individual cooperation was held on October 11, 2017 in Sarajevo as part of the framework of a three-year educational program CHILDREN ARE YOUR MIRROR IMAGE: Prevention of peer and gender-based violence in BH schools which is being successfully implemented by TPO Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of the Herzegovina-Neretva and Central Bosnia Canton, the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton as well as thirty partner elementary schools. The training was provided in the Edhem Mulabdić Elementary and led by Esmir Salihović, the school pedagogue and author, and Berminka Hrelja, a trauma psychology expert and systemic family psychotherapist.

CREATIVEWORKSHOP FOR STUDENTS CALLED "ACTIVISM AND YOUNG"
IN PRIMARY SCHOOL "VAREŠ" IN VAREŠ

The importance of questioning the roles and responsibilities in the community we live in, as well as the importance of civic awareness and activism, were the issues in Primary school "Vareš" in Vareš, at a creative educational workshop called "Activism and Youth" which was organized within the project "Initiative for Creative Dialogue and Education – ICDE". On October 10, 2017, TPO Foundation held another one of many workshops for students of primary and secondary BH schools with an aim of raising awareness, learning and thinking about civic duties and roles that we have in the family, school and society we live in. Participants of the workshop were students of the final grades of this elementary school. Students discussed and offered solutions to the problem of violence after they watched scenes showing several forms of peer and gender-based violence that were played by young actors Ivana Vojinović and Adis Omerović.

BASELINE STUDY: PEER AND GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE
IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN BIH


Within the framework of the project "Peer and Gender-Based Violence at School", a Baseline Study: "Peer and Gender-Based Violence in Primary Schools in BiH", was conducted in 30 primary schools in Sarajevo, Herzegovina-Neretva and the Central Bosnia cantons. The Baseline Study was conducted by TPO Foundation team based on the questionnaire, in which Dr. Amra Delić, neuropsychiatric specialist, mr. Sc. Alma Jeftić and mr. Sc. Melika Šahinović participated. The Baseline Study is an analysis of various forms of violence and its transformation in and out of school, school rules and practice against violence, as well as an analysis of preventive measures used to combat peer violence.

CREATIVE WORKSHOP "ACTIVISM AND YOUTH"

HELD IN PRIMARY SCHOOL "SREDNJE" IN SREDNJE

As part of the project "Initiative for Creative Dialogue and Education - ICDE", on September 29 2017, TPO Foundation organized a creative educational workshop for young people called "Activism and Youth" at the elementary school "Srednje" in Srednje. Workshop participants were ninth grade students who had an opportunity to learn and question about civic activism, human rights as well as peer and gender-based violence through discussion with the workshop moderator. The aim of the workshop is to encourage young people to think about responsibilities and obligations towards themselves and the society they live in, and to learn about the importance of civic activism too. Thirty students of the final grade of this school had the opportunity to watch the stage performances of young actors on various forms of violence and to talk about the prevention and reduction of all forms of violence within and outside the school.

ACTIVISM AND YOUTH: RAILWAY SCHOOL CENTER

Why is it important to talk about civic activism and our responsibilities in family, school and society? How well do we know ourselves, our weaknesses and virtues, and how to develop our personal and professional competencies? On September 19, 2017, these and other issues were discussed with first grade students of the "Railway School Center", secondary school in Sarajevo. The TPO Foundation, within the "ICDE" project, realized another creative, educational workshop "Activism and Youth" and thus began new acquaintances and socializing with young people in new school year. Alongside the young actors who presented various types of violence with their performance, young people had an opportunity to discuss ways of preventing and reducing violence in their community.

FER DISCOURSES: FEMINISM, RELIGION, PERSPECTIVE

WHAT IS FER Discourses?
Do we have the courage to contest our own beliefs, worldviews and practices? Do we have the strength to stand up against structural violence directed by secular, as well as religious patriarchal institutions? Are we ready to hear out different viewpoints and to allow different opinions to be heard – even if we do not agree with them? Are we prepared to respect human beings' freedom and one's individual rights to choose to believe or not to believe, to question, to doubt, and to search for answers? Can one be a feminist and a believer? If the answer to all these questions is negative, then you are necessarily in need of FER discourses therapy which, through intersection of feminism and religion, offers you new prospects of understanding your own self and the world that surround us.
