PROMOTION OF COMICS "NIRA" AND WORKSHOP FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN MAGLAJ

Within the ICDE project, TPO Foundation held a workshop for young people in high school "Edhem Mulabdić" in Maglaj on March 20, 2015. Workshop participants were students of the first and second grades of high school. Lecturer Melika Sahinovic through creative way presented the importance of critical thinking to the young people. The focus of the workshop was engaged art on which the participants learned, discussed and shared their views with specific reference to past events resulted by floods. Accompanied by examples of actions of heroine Nira in the eponymous comic book, they talked about civic activism, rights and responsibilities of all citizens of the community in which they live. In this way, participants realized the importance of individual action and emphasized

that they should be brave and express their views and ideas and that they are all able to be initiator for change and encourage other people to act. They also emphasized that we have to respect the ideas of all people but also fight for our own ideas to be accomplished. In terms of our obligations as individuals in society, participants pointed out that we should not stand aside but dare to take steps to achieve our goals and that fear is the greatest enemy of us on this way. Our rights will be realized if we become initiators of the changes. By the end of the workshop, students expressed their wish to attend more educational workshops as this one and concluded that more schools should be involved in such initiatives.
